Arthur C. Block, 86, of Las Vegas, passed away Jan. 27, 2011. A lifetime resident of Nevada, he was born July 12, 1924, in Reno. He was raised in Minden, and graduated from Douglas County High School. He attended the University of Nevada Reno, before joining the U.S. Navy serving three years during World War II. He had a 20year career as a Nevada highway patrol officer, where he was transferred to Las Vegas in 1968 as a sergeant. After retiring he worked for Summa Corporation for 10 years. He was a past master of Masonic Lodge Douglas 12 in Genoa, a member of the York Rite Bodies of Nevada, and a member of the American Legion Post 14. He was an Eagle Scout and served as a scoutmaster for many years. He was an active member of All Saints Episcopal Church for 40 years and was a member of the Brotherhood of St. Andrew. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Anna his brother, Donald and his son, Randy. Arthur is survived by his loving and devoted wife, of 64 years, Edith one grandson, Eric and brother, Edward wife, Dallas of Carson City. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 12, at All Saints Episcopal Church, 4201 W. Washington Ave. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to All Saints Episcopal Church or a charity of your choice.
