Aspasia Miklia, 84, died November 29, 2011 at Nathan Adelson Hospice in Las Vegas. She was born September 26, 1927 in Detroit, Michigan to Odysseus and Demetra Elisavitas Giokas. On November 17, 1956 she married John Miklia and together they had three children, Kathy, Cindy and John.
Aspasia was also known to others as Betsy. She graduated from cosmetology school and worked as a hair dresser for many years, following that she worked as an attendance office clerk at Hoover High School in Glendale, California through this she built many lasting friendships and memories. Aspasia was very proud and honored to work as a Greek translator at the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, California. A recent special memory for Aspasia and John was the adoption of their dog Skilo.
Survivors include her husband, John daughter, Kathy Skip Ruffner and two granddaughters, Sonia and Nadia Agrebi. Her daughter Cindy and son John preceded her in death.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 4, 2011 at 1:00 pm at St. John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church, 5300 El Camino Road in Las Vegas, Trisagion service will follow at 2:00 pm. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, December 5, 2011 at 10:00 am at the church.
