Brenda Joyce McFolley passed away on February 5, 2024, in Las Vegas, Nevada. She was born to Joe and Joyce McFolley in St Louis, Missouri on July 12, 1968. She spent her childhood in the St Louis metro area and graduated from Cahokia High School. She attended Western Illinois University where she was an enthusiastic supporter (Que Sweet) of her friends within the Omega Psi Phi fraternity. She earned her degree in Special Education and developed a passion for helping others excel.
She worked as an educator for the Illinois Department of Corrections, the Virginia Department of Corrections and Clark County School District in Las Vegas. Brenda was a lifelong member of the National Association of Blacks in Criminal Justice. She loved networking at their conferences and learning from her peers.
Brenda was a voracious reader known for her bright smile, her carefree, infectious laugh and willingness to help others. She loved loud music, trying new foods and traveling the world. Brenda made an impact on all who met her and will forever be missed.
Brenda was preceded in death by her parents Joe and Joyce McFolley. She is survived by her sisters Malissa Alston, Keli Wilson and Michele Rodriguez, godparents Marilyn and Alfred Alston, her aunts, uncles, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends.
