Catherin Shelley

Catherine "Cookie" Shelley, 80 of Las Vegas passed away on Thursday October 6, 2016 in Las Vegas.

Cookie was born in Youngstown, Ohio on April 10, 1936 to Michael and Bertha Glavies. Cookie moved from Youngstown to New York, then to Los Angeles, and finally to Las Vegas. She was a long time resident of Las Vegas moving to the Valley in the 1950s. Cookie worked as a cocktail waitress at a number of casinos around town. She worked at The Stardust from 1968 until her retirement in 2002. Prior to beginning work as a cocktail waitress, she was a singer and dancer in town, having once toured with Diana Washington. She loved her cat Sugar, astrology, gemology, was an avid reader and enjoyed living life to the fullest. Cookie enjoyed taking care of stray cats and was also an active member of the Animal Foundation. She was a member of the Society of the Little Flower of St. Theresa.

Cookie is preceded in death by her parents, Michael and Bertha, and her brothers, Jack and Milan Glavies.

She is survived by two nephews Michael Glavies and wife Colleen of North Carolina, and Jake Glavies and wife Karen of California, along with many life long friends from her years in Las Vegas.

Memorial Services will be held on Sunday, October 9, 2016 at 4:00 PM at Davis Funeral Home 1401 S. Rainbow with Father Tom Montelaro officiating. Burial will follow at a later date.

The family would like to especially thank Cookie's close friends Carol Geraci and Pat Holmes for their years of devoted friendship and all their love and support.
