David Hindley Greene

David Hindley Greene, 61, of Las Vegas, Nevada, passed away unexpectedly on May 31, 2024. David was born in San Francisco, California, on October 15, 1962 to D. Forrest and Gerda M. Greene. He grew up in San Francisco, the youngest of five children. In 1971, the family relocated to Salt Lake City, Utah.
David attended East High School (class of 1980) where he developed lifelong friendships. David graduated from the University of Utah with a doctorate in psychology. His career in clinical psychology began in San Diego, California and later took him to Las Vegas, Nevada where he worked in the Psychiatric Department at the City of Las Vegas Department of Public Safety from 2008 – 2019. Since 2019, David was employed at the Nevada Department of Corrections as the statewide Mental Health Director.
David had an amazing sense of humor and that is just part of the reason why he made such a great husband, father, doctor, friend, coworker, boss, and all around genuine human being.
David deeply cared about his wife and three boys. He loved them so much and would talk about them daily at work while sharing pictures of his family. He loved his annual trips to China and would glow when discussing his vacation to friends and family. He was very proud of his mastery in the art of the “Chinglish” language. David would always reminisce to his boys about, “When I met your mom in Hong Kong”. The stories from this famous line and his lifelong ideas/beliefs will be carried on by his wife and children.
Whether David was speaking to one of his family members, a client, a friend, or coworkers; he always spoke with dignity and charm. When he would speak, you would want to listen, as it was always words of wisdom.
David will be remembered for his deep love and devotion to his wife and sons, of whom he was so very proud of and what they’ve accomplished.
David is survived by his wife, Jing Mei, three children, Ben (Lauren) of Las Vegas, NV; Clayton of Reno, NV; and Thomas of Las Vegas, NV; four sisters: Susan Parkinson (James), Randi Greene, Enid Mickelson (Scott), Gloria Pitt, and many nieces and nephews. David was predeceased by his father Forrest and mother Gerda.
