Donald LaMar Sorenson born on 3/2/32 in St George Utah passed away on 8/12/21 in Las Vegas Nevada at the age of 89 and was currently residing in Las Vegas Nevada. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed. He had a wit and charisma like no other. He attended Dixie College in St George then went on to serve as Sargent in the US Army and fought on the front lines in the Korean War. He then decided to come to Las Vegas to find work and spent many years in banking. He worked with family in furniture and construction businesses for the remainder of his working days. Rest In Peace, free of pain Gramps, we hear you letting us know “I’m just peachy” and “I never had a bad day!”
He was preceded in death by his father Willard LaMar Sorenson, his mother Annie Schlappi Sorenson, brother James Lloyd Sorenson, daughter by marriage Gwen(Reese) Abel and nephew James Bills Sorenson. He is survived by his wife LaRayn Sorenson sisters Dora(Tory) Zimmerman, Verna Benson brother Kenneth(Judy) Sorenson children Scott(Ilene) Sorenson, Sheri Sorenson, children through marriage Mona(Gregg) Carter, Beth(Randy) Houk, Phillip(Christy) Hardy, Ellen(Frank) Lovaas and Darryl(Janine) Hardy. He had 25 grandchildren and 52 great grandchildren with 1 on the way along with several nieces and nephews.
Service will be held at the LDS chapel located at 9825 W. Desert Inn Road Las Vegas Nevada on Monday 8/30/21 with viewing starting at 9am, service at 10am and internment following at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery located at 1900 Veterans Memorial Drive Boulder City Nevada.
