Donyel Royal

July 15, 1973 — September 8, 2020

Las Vegas

On Tuesday, September 8, 2020 Donyel Nicholas Royal 47, was called home to be with the Lord. "Nick" as he was affectionately called was born in Omaha, Nebraska on July 15, 1973. He moved with his mother Donna to Portland, Oregon at the early age of 3, along  and his three siblings. The family resided in the Pacific Northwest for most of his adolescence. His sister helped to raise him and got him involved in the Matt Dishman junior boxing program, where he did well in the sport. Nick attended Holy Redeemer Catholic school in Portland, Oregon and Sacred Heart in Omaha, Nebraska where he was a good student.  Nick always had an entrepreneurial spirit to make money and be surrounded by women who loved him. He was known for his big heart and generosity. He worked at his Godparents' Arthur & Anita Palmer's Bantu convenience store in Portland, and Safeway in Tacoma, WA. He enjoyed spending time with family. His grandchildren were a joy to being around. He adorned a loving tattoo of his late cousin Dwayne C. Hampton on his forearm.

Being born the runt of the pack he was believed to have had nine lives as he overcame being hit by a car, broken bones and a massive heart attack in 2015. It wasn’t until last year he suffered a major stroke, that left him paralyzed on the left side of his body. He triumphed and regained reasonable mobility of his daily functions with the help of Madonna Rehabilitation Center in Nebraska. The last month of his life he spent with his sister Denise and brother Anthony. He was lover of good food and enjoyed his video games. He definitely was surrounded with love.

He is predeceased by his mother Donna J Royal and preceded by his father Anthony Eugene Sanders of Omaha, Nebraska.

He leaves to mourn his passing five children, Daughters; Serena Clark-Gaines of Valley, Nebraska, Jordan Kelley of Palm Bay, Florida; SONS; Donquale Nicholas Royal, Donyel Nicholas “Bubba” Ivy-Royal (Portland, Oregon) , and Dominick Royal (Vancouver, Washington).  Siblings; SISTER Antoinettia Denise Royal and BROTHERS; Anthony Quinn Royal (Las Vegas, Nevada), Dana Royal (St. Johns, Oregon), Pastor Tony Sanders Jr. (Omaha, Nebraska); Five loving grandchildren; Zion and Legend Bailey, Kyron Royal, Kiara and King Royal. A host of great aunts/uncles, nieces and nephews and an army of cousins.

He will be most remembered for his loving personality, his keen sense of money and sensitive nature.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, September 25, 2020 at 1:00pm at Rose City Cemetery, 5625 NE Fremont Street, Portland, Oregon.
