Eddie Cabico Cabalar, loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother, passed away on April 19, 2020 at the age of 74.
Eddie was born on June 25, 1945 in Sucoc, Narvacan, Ilocos Sur, Philippines to the late Marcelino Cabalar Sr. and late Francisca Cabico. He is preceded in death by his sister, Estrella. He is survived by his wife, Clarita; his children Rudy (Gina), Editha (Chad), and Edna Wright; his sisters Estrelita Soria and Patricia; his brother, Masa (Marcelino Jr.); 11 grandchildren – Brandon (Tanya), Brian (Nicole), Rhea, JR, Mickei, Laurence (Catherine), Chantelle, Leilani, Kayla, Trystan, & Aeyden; 9 great-grandchildren – Kaydence, Mikaylah, Ahryanna, Penelope, Bhrynlie, Aiden, Audrey, Chazen, and Chezlynn; and a bountiful amount of cousins, nieces and nephews.
In 1965, Eddie married the love of his life, Clarita and in 1978, they, along with their three children, left the Philippines to begin a new life in Honolulu, Hawaii. Eddie worked as a baker assistant at the well-known Liliha Bakery for 14 years before he transitioned to Iolani School in 1994, where he retired as a maintenance worker in 2014.
In 2019, he and Clarita, together with their daughter, Edna and her children moved to Las Vegas, Nevada.
In his spare time, Eddie enjoyed raising chickens, fishing and gardening. He loved watching all sports, especially the LA Dodgers and LA Lakers. He was also looking forward to watching his new city’s team, the Las Vegas Raiders, play at their new stadium. Eddie also always attended his grandchildren’s sporting events when he could. Las Vegas was Eddie’s favorite vacation spot and he and Clarita visited the city several times a year for many years before finally deciding to call it their new home.
Eddie was loving, kind, caring, and touched many lives with his easy-going “no worry” manner. He was loved by many and will be missed by many. His legacy will be truly be forever in our hearts. With much love and aloha, rest in paradise “Daddy-Papa-Cabagis-Papang” Eddie.
On Saturday, May 30, 2020, his visitation & memorial service will be held at Davis Funeral Home (Rainbow Chapel) from 8:00am - 10:30am. Burial to follow at Davis Memorial Park at 11:00am where he will finally be laid to rest.
