Edward D. :Eddie Huffman recently died peacefully at Valley Hospital.
The son of Elmer Blake and Nettie Ida Thomason Huffman, Eddie was born in Alabama and the family moved when he was a small child to West Virginia where his dad worked in the coal mines.
He came to Las Vegas from Ohio in 1960 and quickly became a familiar figure on the Casino scene. Beginning as a blackjack and craps dealer, he worked his way up to Casino Manager. Later he worked for the Griffin Detective Agency working surveillance in Casinos. When electronics came on the scene, he installed surveillance equipment in many of the early day casinos. He developed the Cheaters Black Book which assisted in keeping the same people from repeatedly cheating the same casino.
Eddie became well known for his ability to spot casino cheats and taught a course on the subject at the local Community College to casino personnel and law enforcement officials.
Following a sevenyear stint as a casino manager in Aruba, he returned to Las Vegas and eventually worked worldwide surveillance in casinos. Following his retirement he owned rental properties in Las Vegas and continued his first love, playing high stakes poker. He would often say poker is more a game of skill than gambling.
