Eileen Devito passed away Monday, from what her friends and family say was a broken heart. She died almost two months after the loss of her husband and soul mate, Johnny, a development that surprised no one who knew their incredible love story. Eileen was born in Perth Amboy, N.J. to John and Ann Erickson. The fourth of 8 children, she was an adventurous spirit who embraced the world and all it had to offer. The family moved to Amarillo, Texas when Eileen was 13. After graduating high school, she immediately decided to join her friends working in the resorts in Colorado. Her love of people and adventure made this an exciting period. But soon it was time to get serious about life, and she decided to move to Los Angeles, CA and pursue her love of writing. She enrolled in Cal State and decided to study journalism, eventually graduating to pursue a career in journalism. She gravitated toward entertainment reporting, and got a job at a local radio station, where she had the chance to interview great rocknroll performers like Keith Richards and Billy Idol. It was around this time she met Johnny, and the two began a lifetime adventure that would eventually take them to Las Vegas, where they quickly embraced the exciting and fastpaced lifestyle of the city. They opened Havana Cigar Bar and with Johnnys gift as a marketer and Eileens serious business savvy, they quickly grew it into four stores and a strong following of loyal friends and customers. While she was often upstaged by her jovial and magnetic husband, Eileen was the rock that held their incredible partnership together. She loved politics and was a constant fixture at the many political fundraisers held at Havana over the years. From presidents to city councilmen to university regents, Eileen made all feel welcome, regardless of party affiliation. Away from work, she loved travelling with her nieces and nephews, always playing the doting aunt and enjoying every minute of it.
