Eva Armstrong

d. March 1, 2014

Eva Mae Armstrong, 89, of Las Vegas, passed away March 1, 2014. She was born Eva Mae Lohr in Five Points, PA in 1924. She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, brother and her cherished husband, Curtis Dude Armstrong. She is survived by her two sons Lawrence Armstrong and Roger Armstrong, three grandchildren Julie Holetz, Jessica Armstrong and Brett Armstrong and two great grandchildren, Alexandra Holetz and Thad Holetz. She was a talented hair stylist and cosmetologist as well as a distinguished artist. She was a member of the National League of American Pen Women, the Daughters of the Nile and was one of the Las Vegasbased Zelzah Shrines honored ladies. She was fiercely independent and lived a fascinating life that allowed her to travel all over the world with her husband. A true Marine wife, she kept a solid hold on the home front while her husband was fighting on Midway Island and Tinian during WWII and was a devoted and caring wife for 46 years. She was an amazing cook, an avid story teller and her internal library of folk cures rivaled anything proposed by modern medicine. A funeral service will be held to honor her on Friday, March 7 at 10:40 a.m. at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Boulder City, NV, with internment to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you consider making a donation to the Shriners Hospitals for Children in Evas memory. Her fun and caring nature, vivid storytelling and especially her fried chicken, will be missed by all of her family and friends.
