Francisco Bienvenido Monroig, age 83, passed away in Las Vegas, Nevada on March 25, 2018. He was born in Brooklyn, New York on January 13, 1935 to his parents Francisco and Marina (nee Serrano) Monroig .
Frank's life revolved around his children, grandchildren, his great grandchildren and numerous friends and many other activities and charities. He had a life long love of horses that he passed on to his daughters. He was an active member of St. Francis DeSales Catholic Church and Canyon Ridge Christian Church. He was a avid donor to such charities as the Cancer Society, Disabled Veterans, St. Judes, American Heart Association and many more.
He was a active member of his community and very involved in local public affairs and politics. He attended seminars pertaining to real estate and investments. He was also a frequent visitor to his local library.
After 24 years he retired from the United States Custom Service, first as a US Air Marshall and then a United States Custom Officer. He received an award In Recognition and Appreciation of his Outstanding Contributions, accomplishments and cooperation relative to all Hispanic Efforts. In addition Frank was presented the Hispanic Employment Program Coordinator In Recognition and Appreciation for your numerous Contributions and commitment to the New York region's Hispanic Employment Program from Edward F. Kwas the Regional Commissioner and the Hispanic Heritage Committee October 1989.
His favorite hobbies included photography. To the amusement and pleasure of others, he would photo shop his own greeting cards and photographs which everyone looked forward to receiving .
Some of his favorite entertainers were Marilyn Monroe, Frank Sinatra, and Elvis Presley, He loved to dance, tell bad jokes and laugh at them himself, and being the life of the party. Later in his life he took an interest in learning different musical instruments and acquired an organ and a guitar, to the delight of his grandchildren and the great grandchildren.
He is preceded in Death by his parents Francisco & Marina, son; Frank Monroig III: son-in-law, Frank Todaro, sister: Frances (Cookie), brother- in- Law: Gerald Gruebel and Herbert Jacobs,and niece: Lauren Gruebel Gander.
He is survived by his children: Sheron Todaro, Lisa Monroig and Kevin Monroig, grandchildren: Frank, Frank, Nicole, Ashley, Samantha, Ryan, Kristian and Alexandra. Great grandchildren: Madison, Alyssa, Lexi, AJ, Gianna, Sophia, Frank, Nicolas and Axel. Sisters: Nancy Gruebel, and Gladys Jacobs. Nieces and nephews: Susan, David, Alan, Larry, Millie and Eric. ...and a grandson on the way due to arrive October 2018.
The Celebration of Life and gathering will be held at Davis Funeral Home- Rainbow Chapel, 1401 South Rainbow Boulvard. on Saturday July 7th, 2018, gathering time for friends begins at 12:00 PM with the Memorial Service to follow at 12:30 PM.
