George Hemrich

George James Hemrich, 83, of Bayville, New York, passed away on May 27th 2017 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Born in Hollis, Queens to Rose Alfano Jones on February 26th 1934, George attended Oyster Bay High School where he was an avid baseball player and fan, developing a true love of the game and of his favorite team, the NY Mets. George served as a radio operator in the United States Air Force from 1952 until 1956. George spent his career as a lineman for the Long Island Lighting Company, retiring with his wife, Jean to Las Vegas in 1992.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Jean, his two daughters, Veronica and Kathleen, his sister, June and his granddaughter, Lily Rose, and many friends. We remember George for his strength and his fortitude, for his big heart and his willingness to help anyone in need. We will miss him terribly.
