Haiji Necyr King, beloved son, sibling, and friend, passed away on September 22, 2024 in Las Vegas, NV, at the tender age of 20. Born on September 12, 2004, in Rockford, IL, Haiji was a beacon of joy in the lives of those who knew him.
Haiji was cherished for his loving nature, infectious humor, and outgoing personality. His family lovingly described him as the "therapist of the family," always there to listen and provide support. With remarkable talent, he excelled in both basketball and rapping, showcasing a creativity and passion that only continued to grow. In addition to his athletic and musical pursuits, Haiji had embraced the world of digital content creation, establishing himself as a budding YouTube influencer. He was excellent at engaging the public to ask relevant questions. A true Renaissance man, he also worked with his hands as a certified forklift operator and carpenter
Haiji was deeply tied to his family, often sharing moments of laughter and light. An endearing memory recalled by his family was how, in his younger years, he would stuff his cheeks with food, earning him the affectionate nickname of "chipmunk" from his sister. His mother, LaKeitha, was always nearby to ensure his safety, reflecting the love and care that defined their relationship. Even as he transitioned into adulthood, Haiji’s respect and affection remained evident as he kept his mother informed of his whereabouts and companions—something that meant everything to LaKeitha, as a mother.
He leaves behind a vibrant legacy filled with love and laughter. Haiji is survived by his devoted mother, LaKeitha Johnson; his step-father, Samuel Ross; his sister, Armauri Bryant; his brothers, Arwillis Bryant, Briceyr Vaughn, Brijon Vaughn, Brineco Vaughn, Dequarion Jackson and Christian Payne; his sisters, Brizayah Vaughn, Heavenly Richardson, Faith Love and Shay King; as well as his maternal grandfather, Gregory Johnson, and maternal grandmother, Patty Gulley. The warmth and bond of family were central to Haiji’s life, creating a strong foundation that will continue to support his loved ones as they navigate the days ahead without him. A mention must also be made of his beloved friends from Rockford, Damo and Trey, as well as his local confidantes, Laroy, Kamari, Lorenzo and Kaymir, and his special cousin Reggie. He is preceded in death by his father, Haijibaba King, his sister Armoni Bryant, his paternal grandfather Haijibaba King Sr., and his paternal grandmother, Jean Nelson.
Haiji's spirit, creativity, and compassion will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege to know him. A funeral service to celebrate his life will take place on October 12, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Davis Funeral Homes & Memorial Park located at 1401 S Rainbow Blvd, Las Vegas, NV 89146. His memory will forever remain in the hearts of those he touched.
