Howard Garn Hirschi, loving husband, father, grandfather, and greatgrandfather, passed away peacefully in his Las Vegas home, Sept. 18, 2012. He was born Aug. 26, 1926, in Hurricane, Utah, to Alfred Howard Hirschi and Sellie Grace Demille. He married Orissa Jolley, Nov. 19, 1945, in the Manti Temple. He served in the U.S. Army as a medic, graduated from college in Cedar City, Utah, and was a carpenter, general contractor and construction superintendent for Better Building Company. Garn was an active member of the LDS church. He was known for his teaching of the scriptures. He served in elders quorums, bishoprics, high council and temple work. He loved gardening, wood work and spending time at his cabin with family. He was preceded in death by sister, Karma Leavitt and two grandchildren. He is survived by his loving wife, Orissa children, Kathern Thom Taylor, Sallie Jim Hughes, Terrie Mike Baldwin, Neil Teresa Hirschi, Cindy David Rice and Troy Lisa Hirschi 29 grandchildren and 44 greatgrandchildren. Viewing will be 68 p.m., Friday, Sept. 28 at Davis Funeral Home, 2127 W. Charleston Blvd. A second viewing will be 99:45 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 29, with services following at 10 a.m., both at Lorenzi Chapel, 221 S. Lorenzi St., Las Vegas. Burial will be at 10 a.m., Monday, Oct. 1, in Cedar City.
