James Seay

James Karl Seay, age 70, went home to be with Jesus on Saturday Aug 21, 2021 after his lungs lost a hard fought battle with Covid-19. He was born on March 28, 1951 in Lincoln, Illinois to Donna (Routson) and James Seay. “Jimmy” moved to Las Vegas along with his family in 1962. Jimmy went on to graduate from Rancho H.S. in 1969 earning his diploma as well as his certifications to weld and perform repairs on HVAC systems. After high school Jimmy joined the UA local 525 Plumbers and Pipefitter Union where he built many lifelong friendships and was a mentor to many apprentices. He was a proud union member his entire adult life. Jimmy dedicated nearly 20 years to the Department of Energy at the Nevada National Security Site, a.k.a. the Test Site. Over the years he also had a hand in the construction of many hotels and businesses in Las Vegas. He was able to retire early at the age of 55. Jimmy married Nanette Champoux in 1987, and the two of them have been an example of love and dedication to each other for 34 years. Together they have 4 children. Jimmy was, first and foremost, a man of God and family. He enjoyed all of God’s creations and enjoyed fishing, hunting, horseback riding, archery, target shooting, camping, and off-road riding with his many grandchildren. Some of his favorite times were teaching and passing on his love of nature to his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife Nanette; four children Rebecca (Anthony), Michelle, Dean (Tookta), Sean (Lana); 17 grandchildren, two great grandchildren (two more shortly on the way); as well as many nieces and nephews. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, mentor, and friend to all who knew him. Funeral services will be Thursday Sep 2, 2021at 1:00pm at Davis Funeral Home 1401 S.Rainbow Blvd. Las Vegas NV 89146.
