James Lloyd Veater, 66, of Las Vegas, passed away peacefully in his home on June 4, 2014. Though he went by different names Lloyd by his family, Jim by his friends and Jimmy by his loved ones, he left a lasting impression with whoevers path he crossed.
A funeral service will be held from 6:30 pm through 9:30 pm on Friday, June 13, 2014 at Davis Funeral Homes located at 2127 W Charleston Blvd, Las Vegas, NV 89102. Visitation is from 6:30 pm 8:30 pm with a service until 9:30 pm.
Jim was born in San Diego, California to Louise LeFevre and LeRoy Veater on October 14, 1947. He attended school in both California and Utah through his graduation. He fathered one son and raised a stepson from his first marriage. Upon remarrying on Valentines Day of 1981 to Tonyne Jones, he helped raise a stepdaughter since his marriage until present.
Jim was a hard working man who was versed in various trades from mechanic to machinist. Over the last 33 years, Jim worked as a machinist for several public contractors E G G, Bechtel and finally, N S Tec. He was a member of Operating Engineers Local 12 in Las Vegas and retired from his employer and union in November, 2013.
While Jim was not actively involved in any documented clubs or organizations, Jim had many circles of friends and developed several business relationships that have stood the test of time.
Jim is survived by his mother, Louise Dunton his wife, Tonyne Veater His son, Christopher Veater His stepdaughter, Lanyne Russie His brother, Michael and his sisters, Debbie, Carolyn and Theresa. Jim was also lucky to have experienced being a grandfather to 4 boys and 1 girl Daniel, Christopher, Nicholas, Lenon and Amanda. His most recent gift was a greatgranddaughter, Fay.
The family of James Veater wishes to extend our sincere thanks to all the persons that made his life worth living and those that ease our pain in his passing.
