John Horvath

July 25, 1971 — November 12, 2011

John Matthew Horvath, 40, of Las Vegas, Nevada passed away on November 12, 2011. He was born July 25, 1971 in Las Vegas, Nevada. He is survived by: John Horvath father, Michael Horvath brother, Sandra Horvath sisterinlaw, John Michael Horvath nephew. He was preceded in death by: Ann Horvath mother

John Matthew, or Matt, or Matty to those who knew him best, was born and raised in Las Vegas, and graduated from Clark High School, after attending Hyde Park Jr. High and Howard Wasden Elementary. He also attended UNLV and studied sound and recording engineering in California. He loved travel and the outdoors, two things that he was introduced to early in his life when he spent his summers at his grandparents house in Oregon, where he was close to mountains, trees and streams filled with rainbow trout. An avid golfer, at one point he shot as a single digit handicapper, and honed his game during stints working at several area golf courses.

Most people, however, will remember Matt for his great sense of humor, his smile, his laughter, and his endless stream of jokes and his stories. Few people could tell the same stories with as much flair and comedic timing, and in any social gathering he was always near or at the center of attention.

He made friends easily and kept most of them since kindergarten, and could
easily talk to anyone about any subject whether he knew a lot about it or not. He was very generous, and always looked to help those in need, or give someone an extra hand if they asked for it.

He loved the ocean, and treasured the times he spend along the coast and in Hawaii, either by himself or with his childhood friends . times he fondly remembered and would retell whenever he could.

He could be stubborn, crude, rebellious, loud, rambunctious and annoying, but his infectious personality and big smile would usually and quickly repair any hurt feelings, and most people would agree it was hard to stay mad or annoyed at him very long.
Matt had a big heart and wasnt ashamed to show it with a hug or a handshake or even tears whether they were tears of sadness or joy.

In the past few years, he was proud of his nephew John Michael and his great nephew Levi, and would yell at them whenever they would bolt out of the shower to perform their naked dance, and would wisely tell them to stay in school and eat their vegetables, advice they all laughed at after Matt would make a funny face then light a cigarette.

He as an avid reader and loved music, and usually toted dozens of CDs with him wherever he went.

While he separated himself from some of his longtime friends and family in recent years, he remained close to his dad, and could be found in the evenings during the NBA or NCAA playoffs watching the games with him, or the occasional Thursday night football game.

He was preceded in death by his mother Ann, and his grandparents, Mike and
Dorothy Lynch, who he loved very much, and with whom he is now reunited
restored and at peace.
