John Schaefer

John August Schaefer, 60, of Las Vegas, Nevada passed away on April 13, 2013. He was born on May 23, 1952 in Willmar, Minnesota. John is survived by his wife Ruby Schaefer Las Vegas, NV, Brother Tom Schaefer Willmar, MN, Sister Patricia Patty and Husband Steve Wiener Milbank, SD, Brother Mark Schaefer and wife Mary Lou Sauk Centre, MN, Sister Mary Schmitz and husband Dave Belgrade, MN, Stepchildren Tami, Frank Las Vegas, NV, Tina Richards Aberdeen, SD, Teri Frank Chandler, AZ, Troy Richards Las Vegas, NV, SisterinLaw Margie Knutson Belgrade, MN, Brotherin Law Don Leukam Belgrade, MN, 10 Grandchildren, 12 Great Grandchildren and many Nieces and Nephews. John is also survived by Lady, his terrior yorkie mix.
John is preceded in death by his parents John Joseph Schaefer and Lucille Kathryn Gysberg Schaefer, Sister Susan Leukam and many Aunts and Uncles.
After graduating from Belgrade High School in Belgrade, MN in 1970, John moved to the Minneapolis, Saint Paul area, where he had various trucking jobs before moving to Lidgerwood, ND in 1982. John was coowner of the Double K Saloon in Lidgerwood, ND which he ran for several years. He went on the road trucking from Coast to Coast before moving to Las Vegas, NV in 1998. He married Ruby Richards on April 14, 1998 and worked for Southern Nevada Paving until he went to work for National Security Technologies. John was a member of the Teamsters where he held a position on the Board of Directors. John was a very loving and caring husband, stepfather, and step grandfather. John was very loved by his family. God truly blessed us all when he came into our lives. He was a good friend to many and will be greatly missed. He had a great sense of humor and we will always remember his parting words, Take it Easy
