John Stewart

John Henry Stewart, 93, of Seminole Oklahoma, passed away on February 5, 2018 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
John Stewart was born in Seminole, Oklahoma to Otis and William Stewart on August 8, 1924.

After the death of John's father, John's mother moved his three brothers and one sister to Tyler, Texas. John attended grade school in Tyler, and High school at Carver high in Midland, Texas. On July 12, 1943, at the age of eighteen, he enlisted in the United States Army. He served in the 45th Engineers in India, Burma, China and Africa. He was honorably discharged on February 2, 1946. John then returned to Oklahoma making his home in Tulsa. He was married and had two Lovely children, Chatell and Terrance. He was baptized on February 8, 1953 at Mount Carmel Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon, Trustee, and Prince Hall Mason. John was employed by the city of Tulsa where he held a number of classifications including Heavy Equipment Operator, Refuse Lead Man and Public Service Representative. After thirty years of service to the city of Tulsa, John retired on April 31, 1983. In 1983 as a divorcee, John moved to Los Angeles, California. On July 4th of 1984 he met a lovely woman named Beverly at a friend's bar-b-q. After a beautiful courtship, they were married on November 16, 1985. They owned a successful Real Estate Company and attended Prince Chapel AME Church. They were honored as King and Queen of their church. John served as a Head Usher and Trustee. John Henry Stewart always kept himself busy, and never slowed down in Las Vegas. He worked as s security guard until his knee surgery. He was a great cook, loved working in the yard, watching sports, collecting coins, listening to jazz and reading his Bible; he always kept busy.

John Henry Stewart is preceded in death by William and Otis Stewart, his parents. By his three brothers Tom, Samuel and Spearman, and his only sister Mary.
he is also survived by Terrance Caven Stewart, Chantelle Renee Walden, Tedra Williams, Nicko Walden, Katrena Stanley, grandchildren, great grandkids, many nieces, and nephews, and many family and friends. The family of John Stewart wishes to extend their sincere thanks to the hospice staff and organization, Mason's organization, his church family, friends, family and all who loved him.
