John West

John James West, 68, of Las Vegas, passed away December 18, 2016 at Spring Valley Hospital. He was born November 14, 1948 in Holyoke, MA the son of Cleave Miller and Pearl Rivard. On March 27, 1940 John married Keiko Watanabe in Japan. Having served twenty one years, he was proud to be a retired member of the United States Army, where he was awarded the Silver Star with valor in Vietnam, and the Purple Heart.

John enjoyed coin collecting, model ships, gambling, and had a true gift of gab who was able to visit with anyone.
John is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Keiko; son, Thomas James and his wife Yvonne; daughters, Barbara "Mika" Black and her husband William, and Nancy Sue McGowan; eight siblings, ten grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; and his best friend and companion, Dusty (His Dog).

Visitation will be held, Tuesday, January 3, 2017 from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at Davis Funeral Home, services with full military honors will follow the visitation at 2:00 pm.
