Kerry Melvin Gerrard, 57 of Las Vegas, NV passed away Thursday, October 22, 2020 at Meadowview Hospital.
Kerry was born February 23, 1963 in Whittier, CA to Melvin and Carol (Edwards) Gerrard. He spent much of his youth in the desert areas of Yucca Valley and Palm Springs where he enjoyed exploring and hiking. He was very musically oriented and played in the school bands. Kerry graduated from Palm Springs High School in 1981, spent a short time at Oregon University and then pursued his passion for flying at Santa Barbara School of Aviation where he flew his first solo flight in 1985.
Kerry spent several years in central California and was married for a short time in the early 90s to Emmelita “Emmy” Garcia Correa, but continued to raise their children Cody and Christina together after settling in Las Vegas in 1995. Kerry’s children were his priority, as was being a dependable employee. He chose late shift jobs so he could be home with the children during the day. Later in his career he strived for excellence & knowledge and was very skilled as a High Reach Master Mechanic with Ahern. Diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease in 2013, Kerry still had the determination to continue working full-time until the fatigue of the disease overwhelmed him.
In 2007 Kerry married Dori Keryluk and they spent many years enjoying adventures on their quads, their many animals and in the last several years, vacationing in the mountains of Utah.
Kerry had many passions: Harley Davidson motorcycles and most things motorized, working on cars, collectibles (especially San Francisco 49ers memorabilia), mountain biking, animals and playing his guitar. He loved hiking and for many years he hiked Lone Mountain every day before work. Kerry also enjoyed time with his family, including the many annual Gerrard Family Picnics.
Kerry is survived by his wife Dori Gerrard, daughter Christina (Nichols) McCollum, son Cody Gerrard, grandchildren Rayden & Callum, brothers Andy (Kim) Gerrard and Guy (Judy) Gerrard and many other extended family members.
Services will be held at a later date. Donations can be made in Kerry's name to the Animal Foundation in Las Vegas.
