Lendor Conrad Coney, Jr., affectionately called “Len”, of Las Vegas, NV, passed away on April 13, 2023. He was taken away from us way too soon.
Len always had a passion for the game of basketball from his early days growing up in Chicago, and he carried it with him when he and his mother relocated to Las Vegas in 1996. He became well-known in the neighborhood for his fierce basketball skills and was a star athlete at Palo Verde High School. His jersey number earned him the nickname 'BigFo5', and anyone who stepped on the court with him knew they were in for a challenge.
His talent continued to be displayed in his church league, Team 413 (Philippians 4:13), and as the Becker Middle School basketball coach. Len was a leader with the main goal to get you to victory!
Lendor Conrad Coney Jr. was truly a gentle giant. His size may have initially caught the attention of those around him, especially at his second job as Security at the Drai Nightclub, but it was his baby face, dimples, and boisterous laugh that left a powerful and positive impact on everyone he connected with. He will be remembered for his genuine kindess and warm bear hugs.
Len is survived by his mother Debra Gates; father Lendor Conrad Coney, Sr.; siblings Tiffanie Holifield, Kwinte (NaTasha) Gates, Corey Brown, Jovan Coney, and Chris Griffin; nephews Angelo Bridges, Jr., Antonio Bridges, Adrian Bridges, Elijah Tunstall, and Emauri Tunstall; nieces Brittney Bridges, Aaliyah Bridges, and Mia Gates; best friends/Godbrothers/sister Ryan Pro, Jason Pro, and Chelsea Balentine; Godmom Twila Pro, godchildren Jason Pro, Jr., Percy Morris, Paidan Morris, Justin Pro, and Chaniya Pro, League buddy Amir Ahmad, and a host of teammates, students, fellow coworkers and friends who will miss him terribly. Lendor was preceded in death by his best friend, Curtis Williams Lindsey, in 2022.
