Minnie Ruth Gary was born to the late Ozella Alexander and Mitchell Davis on November 6, 1926 in Brie, Georgia. She was named after her grandmother Minnie, although she preferred to be called Ruth. She was the only child born of her mother. As a child, she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. Her public education ended abruptly at the conclusion of third grade but she selfeducated herself through the experiences of life and a few college courses and ended up being just as educated and knowledgeable as any college graduate.
She was a veteran of the United States Army which she joined at the age of 17 and did her service as a cook. At the end of her military service she met Charles Dean Leroy Gary on Oct. 17, 1945. It was love at first sight and they were married the next day. Minnie and Charles again said their vows on March 26, 1946. The union lasted 58 years until her beloved s home going on April 4, 2004. Out of their union five children were born two sons and three daughters. Their family life began in Des Moines, Iowa until they moved their family to Northern California in 1952 where their children were raised to adulthood.
Ruth was a woman of many talents she was a cook at the University of Santa Clara a maid She and Charles were a proprietor of two restaurants in Kansas, a coffee shop in San Jose, CA and a small take out eatery in downtown San Jose. She was a nurses aide at Oak Knoll Hospital in Oakland, CA a beautician an assembly worker at several manufacturing plants in San Jose, CA but after many years of hard work, she ultimately retired from IBM Corporation, in San Jose, CA. The job she truly excelled at was being the best mother the Lord ever put on this green earth.
Ruth was an avid fisherwoman, enjoyed bowling and loved playing Bingo and she didnt mind donating and winning at the casinos every now and then.
She truly loved the Lord and she was ready and spiritually prepared to see the face of the Lord. She was a faithful member of Faith Fellowship in Sacramento, California., until she moved to Las Vegas , Nevada where she attended Fresh Wind Ministries, under the leadership of Pastor Kelker.
Ruth is survived by four of her children Charles Dean Leroy Gary Jr., Prentiss DuBois Gary, DeLaine Ruth Gary Yvonne Ozella Kyles. Son inlaw Oscar Kyles Jr. Daughter inlaw Mary Agnes Gary, her Aunt Elmira Alexander, cousins Ethel Murphy, Carrie Lee Griffin thirteen grandchildren twenty six great grandchildren eleven greatgreat grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband Charles Dean Leroy Gary Sr.. And all of his siblings daughter Dawne Renee Watts., her mother Ozella Alexander her father Mitchell Davis and her stepfather Henry Alexander.
