Neil Jacobs

Neil Jacobs of Las Vegas, Nevada passed away peacefully on Friday, October 9, 2020, at the age of 87. Neil was surrounded by his family on the day of his passing and during his final two weeks of declining health due to a chronic condition. Neil is survived by his daughter Jeannie and his grandchildren Natalia and Alexandria, and Bryan who revered Neil like a father.

Neil served in the Navy during the 1950s, and was proud of having served on the infamous Intrepid aircraft carrier, now located at the Intrepid Museum in New York. After the Navy, he led a team of scientists in product development for a global manufacturing company, and enjoyed this role immensely as he found all things related to science fascinating. Neil subsequently over his lifetime owned a construction company, created a series of real estate seminars and found himself in his post retirement years working in procurement. Neil was an avid golfer, golfing well into his 70’s until limited by his mobility. In addition, Neil was a voracious reader and spoke quite well in seven languages. It can certainly be said, if one needed the answer to a trivia question, undoubtedly Neil would be the first person they would call.

In his spare time, he loved spending time with his family often offering insightful advice or being a great listener over coffee. His daughter Jeannie shares long conversations with her Dad regularly has been what she has missed most in his declining past year and was and will always be simply irreplaceable. He was preceded in death by his beloved cats Alex and Murphy. This is worth mentioning as Neil was an animal enthusiast all of his life, even volunteering in his 70’s for a week to work at an out of state animal shelter, bailing hay, cleaning stables and tending to the animals.

Neil was a kind, markedly intelligent and wonderful father and grandfather who was admired by many and will be forever remembered by all who knew and loved him.

Neil’s service will be at Davis Funeral Home on Monday October 26th.  Flowers for Neil can be sent to Davis Funeral Home at 6200 S. Eastern, Las Vegas, Nevada 89119.  Or the family humbly shares in lieu of flowers, perhaps adopt a pet and provide a forever home filled with love in Neil’s honor.
