Norris Eldon Stauffer, 84 of Las Vegas, NV passed away on March 20, 2016.
Norris (Swede) was born in Saybrook, IL on May 20, 1931. After graduating from Saybrook High School, he enlisted in the Navy and served in the Korean War as a hospital corpsman. During his service, he was decorated with two purple hearts. Following his service, he continued his 41 year career as a medical laboratory technologist in Illinois and Nevada. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating and traveling. He was president of the Pittsfield Rotary Club and received the Paul Harris Fellow Award in 1986 for his leadership and contributions. He was active in community service and served as the President of the Pittsfield Little League, The Boy Scouts and was a long standing Elder in the First Christian Church. He was a dedicated and loving husband and father and was known for his sense of humor. He brought laughter and love to all of those who knew him.
Norris was married to Wilma Jean Yost on October 10, 1954. They were married 57 years until her death in 2013. He is survived by his three children, Diane Hogan, Craig and Jeff Stauffer; five grandchildren, Blake, Beau and Brianne Stauffer, Sean and Kendall Hogan;and his siblings Nelda Jordan, and Ron, Warren, and Rex Stauffer.
Norris is preceded in death by his parents, Calvin and Lillian Stauffer, and his brothers Delmar, Gene, John, and Roger Stauffer.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to The First Christian Church of Pittsfield, Illinois or the American Lung Association in his honor. The family wishes to thank Marvel Manor and Harmony Hospice for their loving support.
The funeral service will be held on March 26, 2016 at Davis Funeral Home at 1401 S Rainbow Blvd, Las Vegas, NV. Visitation will be held at 1:00 pm followed by the funeral service at 3:00 pm Burial will be held on Monday, March 28, 2016 at 9:20 at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Boulder City, NV.
