Robert William Craig, 74, of Las Vegas, passed away on April 14th 2020 in Las Vegas.
Robert was born in Red Bluff, California to Claud and Marjorie Craig on February 8, 1946.
Robert as a youth was active in sports, playing football, baseball and running track. He also served as student body president for the Corning Union High School student body. His was proud of his early firefighting experiences jumping from helicopters with the initial strike team.
Robert defended his country in the United States Army, and then attended California State University, Chico where he received his Master’s in Hydrology. Robert spent his career working at the United States Geological Survey where he received numerous accolades for his service. Robert enjoyed coaching his children’s soccer teams, hunting with his son, watching both the San Francisco Giants and the 49ers and collecting Native American art.
Robert is preceded in death by his parents, Claud and Marjorie Craig, and stepson Corporal Matthew Commons.
Robert Craig is survived by his beloved wife, Kay Craig, son, Jim Craig, daughters, Cindy Straeten (Charles) and Michele Sabatino (Michael) and stepson Aaron Commons (Rose). Brother Alan and sister- in-law Mary, grandsons Daniel Duncan and Nicholas Sabatino, and three nieces: Christine, Nicole, and Allison.
