Rosemary M. Smith, 92, a 53 year resident of Las Vegas passed away on April 20, 2017 at her residence. She was preceded in death by her three brothers, Harold, Bernard and Ralph McIntyre, husband Robert A. Smith, oldest daughter Armide Kenerson and son-in-law Jim LaBounty. She is survived by her four daughters, Carole LaBounty of Colorado, Rosemary Giampapa (Jim), Roberta Smith (Bruce), Robin O'Rourke (Mark) and son-in-law Chuck Kenerson (Peggy) all of Las Vegas; grandchildren, Catherin Ramirez (Ryan), Robert Kenerson, Jennifer LaBounty Krieger (Ben), Eddie Giampapa (Eliscia), James LaBounty, Jr., Kristin Giampapa and Jonathan Kenerson and great grandchildren; Corbin Freeman, Sydnee and Preston Ramirez, Zane and Shaelyn Claypool and Emily and Olivia Giampapa.
Rosemary was born in Mitchell, South Dakota on July 14, 1924 and when she was young her family moved to Ft. Collins, Colorado and then to Alamosa, Colorado. She graduated from Alamosa High School in May 1942. During her sophomore year she was elected "Smile Girl" by the student body. She was then eligible to compete in the National contest, but decided not to.
After high school graduation Rosemary and her family moved to Santa Fe, New Mexico She was hired as a switchboard operator and worked in that position during World War II. In 1946 she met the love of her life, Bob Smith and they were married for 64 years. After marrying she and Bob moved to Los Alamos, New Mexico to start their life together. Rosemary keep very busy raising their five daughters.
In 1963 the family moved to Las Vegas, Nevada when Bob accepted a position with Reynolds Electric and Engineering Company. In 1965 Rosemary accepted a position with Billy G. Smith D.D.S. as a receptionist and worked there for several years. After all five daughters were grown she left that job so that she and Bob could travel the world.
Rosemary will always be remembered for her love of God and her strong faith, her love, support and dedication to her husband and five daughters, her unconditional love to all the members of her family, her generosity to those in need, her beauty inside and out, her warm smile and the twinkle in her eyes. The family has found comfort and peace knowing that she is reunited with her beloved husband and other loved ones in heaven.
A mass will be held in her honor at 9:30 A.M. Tuesday June 13, 2017, at Our Lady of Las Vegas Catholic Church, 3050 Alta Drive, Las Vegas, NV 89107. Interment to follow at 12:40 P.M., at The Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Veterans Memorial Dr., Boulder City, NV 89005. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Our Lady of Las Vegas Catholic School, 3046 Alta Drive, Las Vegas, NV 89107.
