Samuel M. Sanders Jr., 67, rested from this life on Sunday, January 1, after a courageous fight through an extended illness. Samuel was born August 25, 1944 in Fort Worth, Texas.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife Marene Sanders, Nieces Deierdre Jimerson and Tracy Harrison of Fort Worth, Texas As well as a host of loving cousins, great nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
Samuel was preceded in death by his father Samuel M. Sanders Sr., his mother Annie Mae Sanders, his sister Margueleta B. Jimerson, brotherinlaw Jim Jimerson and nephew Anthony Darron Jimerson.
Samuel spent his childhood hears in Fort Worth and was educated in the public school system. He graduated from Paul Lawrence Dunbar High School. Upon graduation, Samuel enlisted in the USAF on June 20, 1962. While serving in the Air Force he received many metals and letters of appreciation for his valiant efforts to preserve the democratic rights of our sovereign nation.
After returning to civilian life he began his career in computer technology and retired from the Tandy Corporation as a repair center manager. Unwilling to rest from his labors, Samuel started a new career as a taxi cab driver for the Yellow Checker Star Cab Co. in Las Vegas, Nevada. He and his beloved wife and best friend, Marene of over 40 years , met many wonderful friends during his extended career as a cab driver.
Sam loved music and had an exhaustive collection of music from many jazz legends. Also he was an amateur painter during his early adulthood. He will be remembered fondly for his engaging conversations and endearing personality bestowed upon family and close friends.
The family wishes to extend a heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Kassahun, Dr. Anhs, Dr. D Kaushal and the entire staff of Southwest Medical Center. We appreciate the kindness and support of the management and all the staff of the Nevada Yellow Checker Star Cab Co. Our special thanks to the staff at Valley hospital and most especially his nurse, Chris, who was of great comfort to Sam and Marene. We are grateful for the outpouring of love shown to us by each of you, may God Bless you richly.
