Steven was born to Jacquelyn & James Hughes in Lancaster Ca.
He was the youngest of 7, raised in Palmdale Ca. After completing High School, Steven found his passion as a hairdresser. In 1991, the bright lights of Las Vegas called his name and that is where he continued to enjoy his passion for 26 more years until his illness forced him to put down his scissors.
Steven had a love for music and his favorite artist was Madonna. He also enjoyed spending his time playing video games. His favorite holiday was Christmas. Annoying us all daily with a countdown to Christmas day, which we all secretly loved because we all loved him!
Steven was always there to lend a hand, the first to step up when anyone asked for help, whether it be monetary or just a shoulder to cry on.
On March 20, 2010 through a mutual friend Steven was introduced to Noe Vazquez, who soon would become the love of his life. Steven had lung and heart disease that made life almost unbearable. Noe would continue to stay by his side caring for him until Steven drew his last breath. Their love was cut short all too soon.
Steven is preceded in death by his parents Jackie and Jim. Brothers; Ronnie Grotewold & Johnny Hughes.
He leaves behind: His love Noe Vazquez of Las Vegas. Their fluffy cat "Gordo". Best friend David Westbrook of Las Vegas. Brothers David Grotewold his wife Penny of Arizona. Thomas Grotewold of California. Jimmy Hughes and his wife Tammy of California. Sister Susan Claudio of Idaho. Numerous nieces and nephews, and cousins.
Thank You David Westbrook for being by Stevens side while in the hospital, he loved your company and compassion.
Thank You Noe for having patience and loving Steven
I know Steven loved you both so dearly!
Steven was one of a kind and is missed by everyone he knew.
Rest in Peace Steven. We will see each other again!
