It is with great sadness that the family of Tom George announce his passing.
Thomas “Tom” Allen George, of Las Vegas, passed away on February 15, 2021.
Tom was born in Los Angeles to Alvin and Dorothy George on December 21, 1946.
Tom was drafted into the United States Marine Corp in 1964. After returning home from serving in the Vietnam War, Tom married the love of his life, Alene Adams, on May 31, 1969. After 6 years in the Marines, Tom was honorably discharged and decided to start a career in Banking. He moved from Los Angeles, California to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1984 with his wife and 3 children, Patti, Russ and Tracy. Tom was extremely passionate about helping other Vietnam Veterans and became involved with the Las Vegas Chapter 17 of the Vietnam Veterans Association. Over 25 years as a member of the VVA, he served in many positions on Chapter 17’s Board, including President. Tom also served as the Nevada State President of the Vietnam Veterans Association.
Tom graduated college in 1999 at the age of 53 with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix. He used his degree to work for the State of Nevada as a Veterans Service Officer. Helping Veterans is something Tom loved to do and committed so much of his time to doing. He was a proud member of the Veterans community and very well respected.
Tom is survived by his wife, Alene George, daughter Patricia Metz (Richard Metz), son Russell George (Lucy George), daughter Tracy George, sisters Lois Mallar and Berenice Wynn, brother Barry George, Grandchildren Natalie Metz and Nathan Metz.
Tom will be laid to rest at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Boulder City, Nevada.
