Vanessa Cook Farmer, of Las Vegas, Nevada, passed away on June 1, 2023, at Summerlin Hospital after a courageous twelve-day battle against two metastatic, aggressive esophagus cancer cases. Vanessa was not alone; by her side was her loving husband, Carl; her father, John; her mother, Janice; her brother Ian; and the teams of doctors and medical staff that valiantly tried to save her.
Vanessa was born in San Diego, California, on March 3, 1983. She gained invaluable experience attending the Laguna College of Art & Design for Animation Studies and The Art Institute of California's San Diego Campus for Fashion Design. Vanessa was a gifted illustrator and watercolorist, showcasing her work in several art scenes and completing numerous commissions. Her aesthetic explored her journey and struggles with mental and emotional health, and her goth fashion involved crafting ornate accessories and jewelry with vibrant colors. Vanessa and Carl's marriage on January 26, 2019, marked a significant milestone in Vanessa's life. With a thoughtful and well-executed wedding plan, Vanessa and Carl celebrated their union in three locations that held sentimental meaning for the couple: Caffe Calabria, Lucha Libre Taco Shop, and Coin-Op Bar & Arcade. Charitable contributions to the Trevor Project, various human societies, and advocacy groups for suicide prevention demonstrated Vanessa's compassionate nature, and she would show her considerable talents as a seamstress in her beautiful purple wedding dress made from sunburnt fabrics. She and Carl shared a deep connection and enjoyed taking trips to Los Angeles and exploring the artsy sights of San Diego together. Vanessa's musical tastes ranged from New Wave to Industrial to classic G-Funk and West Coast hip-hop. These memories of Vanessa remain with her husband and family.
Vanessa is survived by her Husband, Carl Bryan Farmer, whom she had been married to for four and a half years and had been in each other's lives for about a decade; they had no children but many cats between them; her Father, John Cook, is currently a retired archeologist and businessman residing in Las Vegas, originally of Pennsylvania, her mother Janice Reed, is a retired medical insurance policy specialist in San Marcos, CA, and her younger brother, Ian Cook, and soon-to-be father to the first in the new generation of Cooks.
